Infographic #2 (Demolitions): http://bit.ly/DemolitionsCThe sketch details the communities that live under threat of expulsion. Some of them are waging a legal battle, some periodically receive an order to temporarily evacuate their homes, and all lack security regarding their future:
Some 1,000 residents of the South Hebron Hills face expulsion on the grounds that they settled in an area that was designated a military firing zone in the 1980s, despite evidence that they were living there as early as the 19th century.
The Civil Administration plans to expel at least 2,000 Bedouin residents from the area of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement and resettle them in “permanent communities”. The area they now live in will be used to expand settlements and create urban contiguity with Jerusalem. Hundreds of Bedouins were expelled from the area when Ma’ale Adumim was established.
Some 2,700 Palestinians in the Jordan Valley suffer frequent demolition of their homes. The military periodically forces some of them evacuate their homes for a day or two, together with their flocks, so that soldiers can train in the area.
The entire 200-person village of ‘Arab a-Ramadin is entrapped in the Alfey Menashe enclave, created when the Separation Barrier was built around it. The residents suffer harsh consequences from being severed from their flocks’ grazing lands and from the rest of the West Bank, and live under constant threat of expulsion and relocation to the “Palestinian” side of the barrier.
